Dress Code
Our goal: Students feel confident and comfortable. Dress code supports safety and technical development for all genders.
Layers: Any extra top layers (t-shirts, tanks, hoodies) worn over dress code must be “The School” branded.
Tights & shoes clarification: Tights only need to match shoes if shoes are pink or skin tone. Black shoes may be worn with any colour of tights for class use. Competition-specific tights/shoes are assigned once costumes are confirmed.
Dancewear: Fitted unitard or bodysuit with leggings (no zippers, buttons, or loose fabric). No jewellery.
Shoes: Bare feet.
Hair: Secure bun or braid; off face and away from apparatus.
Long sleeves recommended to protect underarms; remove rings/bracelets/watches.
Dancewear: Bodysuit with tights or leggings (no shorts / no bare knees for safety).
Shoes: Bare feet.
Hair: Bun; off face.
Class use: footless, convertible, or stirrup tights are fine. Competition: stirrup tights are required.
Dancewear: Bodysuit with tights; skirt optional as advised by instructor.
Shoes: Pink leather or canvas ballet slippers.
Hair: Classical bun; off face and neck.
Teacher may specify colour/style per level; bring warm layers for barre in winter.
Dancewear: Bodysuit with tights OR fitted tank/t-shirt with leggings or dance/bike shorts.
Shoes: Bare feet (year-two footwear to be discussed with instructor).
Hair: Securely off face.
Kneepads optional for floorwork; layers allowed for warm-up.
Dancewear: Fitted top with leggings or bodysuit with tights.

Dancewear: Bodysuit with full-foot or convertible tights OR fitted tank/t-shirt with leggings or shorts.
Shoes: Slip-on jazz shoes (black or skin tone are fine for class).
Hair: Securely off face (ponytail or bun).
Class use: convertible tights are handy. If wearing leggings, socks may be worn in jazz shoes instead of tights.
Dancewear: Bodysuit with tights OR fitted top with leggings/dance shorts.
Shoes: Black oxford tap shoes and slip-on jazz shoes (black or skin tone for class).
Hair: Off face.
If wearing leggings, socks may be worn with tap or jazz shoes instead of tights.
Dancewear: Bodysuit with tights OR fitted tank/t-shirt with leggings or dance/bike shorts.
Shoes: Half-soles / foot undies or bare feet (instructor may advise).
Hair: Off face; secured low or high depending on choreography.
Dancewear: Fitted top with leggings or bodysuit with tights; character skirts as directed.
Shoes: Jazz shoes or character shoes (as directed per piece/level).
Hair: Off face; neat and performance-ready.
Clothing: Athletic t-shirt/tank with joggers or athletic shorts (nothing loose that could snag).
Shoes: Clean indoor athletic sneakers (good grip; non-marking).
Hair: Securely tied back.
Remove jewellery; knee/elbow pads optional for beginners.
Dancewear: Bodysuit with tights OR fitted top with leggings/dance shorts.
Shoes: Black oxford tap shoes.
Hair: Off face; secure ponytail or bun.
Black shoes can be worn with any colour tights for class.
General: Follows discipline-specific dress code above for classes and rehearsals.
- Jazz (TEAM): Bodysuit + tights/leggings; slip-on jazz shoes (black or skin tone for class).
- Tap (TEAM): Bodysuit + tights/leggings; black oxford tap shoes.
- Acro (TEAM): Bodysuit + tights/leggings; Competition: stirrup tights required.
- Ballet (TEAM): Bodysuit + tights; bun; pink slippers (pointe as assigned).
Competition season shoe/tight colours are confirmed once costumes are finalized. For class use, any slip-on jazz shoes (skin tone or black) and any oxford-style tap shoes are acceptable.
